Okposo Out Indefinitely, Surgery Required

The team has just issued a terse statement on the status of Kyle Okposo:

"The New York Islanders have announced that forward Kyle Okposo has an injured right shoulder that requires surgery and will keep him out indefinitely."

What a great beginning to this season, wouldn't you say?

I'll have more on this situation as we learn the details.

UPDATE (3:20PM): According to Newsday's Katie Strang via Twitter, Kyle has a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The report also says that he may be back by December.

Its official.....we are screwed. Being a life long fan of this team is really becoming a drag......just when you see the light at the end of the tunnel....the tunnel becomes unending.....

The injuries to #2 and #21 are certainly discouraging, and we have been through a lot. A LOT.

That said, I can't write off a season before a single game is even played. Hope you don't either. Sports has a tricky way of surprising us sometimes.

Thanks for reading.

Good point Ken......my faith will still have me rooting......no time like now for Garth to add that top six forward......we probably just lost 30 goals......adding a bona-fide producer would go along way in minimizing the damage and give the fans a reason to believe that we want to take a step forward.....would only make us stronger when kyle and mark return as well!!
