Who Should Be Captain?

Since the NHL entry draft is still two full weeks away and my predictions on the subject are notoriously incorrect, let's take things in a different direction.

Since this is a Islanders blog and doesn't cover the full NHL, there hasn't been a whole lot to discuss since the captain retired.

There are a few candidates worthy of wearing the 'C' next season. I have my thoughts on the subject, but I'd like to see what the fans think. I have set up a poll on the right hand side of this page. Please click on your choice and I'll share the results with everyone (along with my thoughts) when the poll closes in two weeks.

If you would like to leave a comment or make a case for a player, the comments section is always open.

Also, friends, don't forget about the draft party on Friday, June 24th at Nassau Coliseum. I'll be there. Will you?

I would have to go with the old man of the group. Mark Streit. He has been a leader with this team and with his countrys team. He has been a leader for this team. He should lead this team. He will be healthy and will be a force this upcomoing season. Marcos.

Thank you for your comment, Marcos. Streit is certainly a good choice. I wish him good health for the upcoming season.

Nahh i Pick #51 Frans Nielsen...The spirit of The team is nielsen..I mean he SHUT DOWN Sidney Crosby !!!

He is The man WHO Can Do everything...pass, shoot, play D on The other teams Best center, Got one of The best penalty shots in The NHL and lead the league in shorthanded goals This year...and he Can be used on The powerplay as well.....thats a perfect captain to me

Weight on Nielsen: he is our Best overall player, though his stats May not always show it.

Votes 2nd The nhlpa most underated players of the NHL. That speaks volumes coming from The players themselves
